The Gloucester Farmers Market initially began in 2011 as an outcome of The Gloucester Project, an initiative which aimed to support and encourage self-sustaining communities. The farmers market was a natural progression from this idea, as it provides the venue for regional growers and producers to come together and sell their produce direct to the community. In early 2019, MidCoast Council put out an Expression of Interest for a community group to take on the Markets. The Gloucester Business Chamber saw this as an ideal collaboration that would continue to provide valuable economic, cultural and social benefits to our local community and surrounding area. Chamber was the successful applicants and the event is now run by The Gloucester Business Chamber. We are committed to continuing to grow the Markets in the true sense of a traditional country Farmers Market including locally grown fruit and vegetables, baked goods, cheeses, olive oils, fresh flowers and a unique selection of artisan-based local produce.
The Markets are an important community event, which brings people together on common ground each month. The market continues to be a popular destination drawing market regulars from the coast and wider region on the second Saturday of every month.
